Our heartfelt sympathies are with the Stockton family of Judhromia "J.J." Johnson Jr., the slain Edison High School student, who was shot by an unknown shooter on Thursday, February 4th, while riding to a sports practice. He was a standout student in the classroom and sports field. If anyone has any information about this shooting, please contact the Stockton police department.

Preschool Event focused on healthy eating and exercise, June 11, 2010 from 10am-1130am at the Merryhill school on Trinity Avenue, Stockton, in collaboration with their SPARK health program. This event is being held to introduce the new and innovative ENERGETIC EDDY, a child superhero who with his friends represents HEALTHY EATING and EXERCISE in advocacy for CHILDHOOD OBESITY and JUVENILE DIABETES. This newsworthy event will include musical phenomenon Ms. Nadirah Shakoor who is best known as the former lead female vocalist of acclaimed hip hop group Arrested Development and featured female vocalist of Jimmy Buffet’s Coral Reefer Band. In addition to Nadirah performing, there will be an up and coming kinesthetic trainer doing exercises with the children and two talented poetic rappers giving healthy rhymes to the children.

One thing I can assert that, after looking through this content I obtained saved from the entire worthless search I should have done on this specific problem. Your write-up is a serious blessing in disguise.

The number one issue in California is jobs. Most candidates say the solution is to give tax breaks to the super rich and their corporations. I disagree. If the private sector can not provide the jobs necessary then we need to do something different. We need massive public works projects to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure and put unemployed workers back to work. California is a wealthy state, but the wealth is in the hands of a few people. I call upon the legislature to shift the tax burden away from poor and working people back to those who get wealthy off the system.

My 5 & Eight Mile Road is an interactive blog that complements the print publication and also focuses on the voices of residents and issues in the great Central Valley areas of Stockton, Sacramento, Elk Grove, Davis, the Mother Lode, Tracy, Modesto, Merced and the North Valley. The name "My 5 & Eight Mile Road" comes from the fact that California Interstate-5 runs throughout California -- from the southern border to the northern border -- including through the Central Valley. And Eight Mile Road is the northern most busy exit in Stockton, the home base of the CV Drum News. We also welcome guest op-eds. The floor is open! Central 4 California: CaliC4C is a "champions blog" featuring comments and ideas from California's Central Coast and Central Valley African-American leaders and decision-makers. A champion, in an ideological sense, is a visionary advocate who may make a strong case or take on responsibility for publicizing a person, place, project or thing. There are many positive persons, places, projects and things that Central Coast and Central Valley African-Americans leaders are proud to champion. There are hundreds of great California Central Coast & Central Valley cities, towns and organizations.
