Hello there. This is Haile. Yesterday at Community Kwanzaa we celebrated Kuumba(Creativity). It was a joy seeing all of the art that was displayed. I would have to say that the copper art was my favorite. The way the light reflected off of the copper was amazing. I really enjoyed being there with the community. And I cant wait until next year. I wonder what principle the BEA will chose next.

Day in the Life of a Sacramento Charter High School Senior
10/10/2011 03:36:45 pm
October, the start of fall. Green leaves turn to vibrant reds, blazing heat evolves into gentle warm waves, and crystal clear blue sky's quickly become filled with lightly colored gray clouds. As the seasons change so does the normal routine of a senior, but especially a Sac High senior. Fall for a senior is all about one thing, college applications. All of the work that has been put in over the past 12 years is finally coming home to roost. Whether that will be good or bad all depends on the work the Senior has done throughout their educational lives. As for me my situations is no different, at least in that respect. Not only do I have to focus on getting into college but I must also keep up with my 4 AP classes and a physics class that I am taking on the side. And to top it all off I am the president of two clubs, the performing arts club and the ACT-SO club, at Sac High. Just as the days in fall get shorter there is less and less time to get everything done. I do not know what I would do without the CSU Mentor, the UC app, and the Common app websites because as fast as time flies in fall these websites make it easier to keep up. But the way I see it, if I can survive this year and accomplish all of my goals then I should be in good shape for college freshman year and all of the opportunities, challenges, and obstacles that await me. Well, at least for this very moment time has slowed down and I can peacefully fall asleep and awake to another fall day, at 5 o'clock in the morning! So much for peace and slowing down right. Well that is life as a Sac High senior for ya. :D

Have you ever asked yourself why do teachers use the color red to correct work? Is it is because it stands out? If that’s the case why not use purple or pink or blue? Is it is because you can read it, then why not use green or brown or orange? Why must they insist using the color red, a color that represents rage and pain. I guess the world will never know that answer but I do know that red was all over my personal statement paper. At Sac High it is required that all seniors right their personal statements and turn them in on September 23. After the statements have been corrected by the college team and the English teachers they are handed back to the students and the newer draft is due the following Friday. I know it’s a lot of work for a personal statement but, it all pays off in the end when you get into the college of your dreams. So maybe teachers use red correction ink because it represents fire, passion, and drive, all the things that a student needs to get into a four year university... Well if you look at it from that angle I should definitively get an offer.

Life of a Sacramento Charter High School Student

Half day today need I say more! But do not let that fool you. Just because Sac High has a half day does not mean that its students get to take it easy. Instead of class on this half day every underclassman was taking either the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE)or the PSAT. During this time however the seniors were filling out California State University (CSU) applications via CSU Mentor. From 8am-12pm was all about preparing for the not so distant future, for both under and upper classmen. But what else would you expect from a college prep high school.
