Living, working and staying in Virginia: I've lived outside of my home state for nearly 30 years. Some of it due to my military career, and the rest because I found it necessary to reside in Texas to raise my family. But, I would like to know what resources are available to help people who went to school in Virginia, and particularly, the Roanoke Valley, to help them find good job opportunities to stay there. Many of my relatives and friends in my generation left Roanoke, and found jobs elsewhere in the country. I have heard, 'there are no opportunities there,' but is that really the case? Or do people just want to leave the little town that seems to have none of the amenities of other cities like Richmond, and the Tidewater area? Many find opportunities in North Carolina, DC/Maryland, Georgia, and beyond. I am just wondering what others may think about this issue? Thanks!

Is Virginia really for lovers as the slogan says. From the military to politics to the first settlers, my home state is rich in tradition. Some good and some not so good. The main take away for me was very simple. How far could you go living in Virginia?????
